Private Villa
Aldona, Goa

Located in the quiet and picturesque village of Aldona in North Goa, this is a proposed villa for a young family based in Mumbai who wanted to have a second home in Goa.

The second home would serve as a place that reflects their personal tastes along with the context of the location, and as a setting for unwinding with friends & family.

​

The plot being on sloping ground, and accessed along the upper level via a village road, provided good views towards the lower level which is thickly vegetated.

The design got underway by splitting up the villa’s public and private zones on different levels according to the natural topography of the site — the lower level was utilised for an open-plan living + dining & kitchen space, fronted by a swimming pool and its wooden deck.

The upper level was planned to house three bedrooms, along with a common hallway / balcony overlooking the pool & deck below.

A fourth bedroom was planned as a separate structure on the lowest level, accessed via a small set of steps from the poolside deck area.

This splitting-up of the public and private functions is done based on our idea of the second home as a space for multigenerational family gatherings — a space to unwind, and a space to form lasting memories.
