The site for this proposed residence is a small part of a larger ancestral land parcel owned by the owner’s extended family, located within the central part of the town in an otherwise congested residential area occupied by compact plots of private residences.

The design got underway by segregating a private and public zone for the house because of the family’s high number of guests & friends who visit frequently.

The private zone consists of the family living, dining, kitchen & utility spaces along with a bedroom on the ground level. An open & green side-yard allows direct access to the greenery outside and also fills the interiors with daylight and natural ventilation, reducing the need for air-conditioning greatly.

The upper floor houses the other bedrooms, along with a library, common terrace and a small informal living space.

Passive climate-control strategies are employed to reduce overall energy consumption and keep the building’s environmental impact to a minimum.
